Joshua Sinclair, according to his Imdb profile and his French Wikipedia entry, is the Buckaroo Banzai of acting/directing world. He was a doctor specialising in tropical diseases in the Third World where he worked with Mother Teresa, among others. This didn’t pay well so he also acted/directed and wrote. Such gems from his Italian b-grade days include 1990: The Bronx Warriors (NSFW) and Great White (a nice little Jaws rip off). More “legitimately” he wrote the Shaka Zulu mini-series based on his own novel, which resulted in commendations for his work against Apartheid.
And also right in the middle of his two online profiles is the following line: A Professor in Comparative Theology.
